Shazia Makhdumi oversees global business development for educational apps and games on Google Play. Her team is responsible for finding the best apps for kids, in the classroom and at home, and works with mobile EDU developers worldwide to help them grow their businesses on Android and get exposure within the educator community. They also work closely with product teams to influence development within key areas including business models, discovery and distribution.
Shazia has spent over 15 years immersed in the technology industry. Operationally, her experience spans from the early days of the Internet while at Netscape to early stage startups including her own venture ColorStories which was focused on helping kids learn. She has also evaluated investments in the tech industry while at Goldman Sachs and also at early-stage venture capital firms.
Shazia holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and an MBA from Stanford. She lives in San Francisco and enjoys checking out new kids apps and games with her two boys.
