Josh Chan, Co-Founder & CEO, LightUp

Josh graduated from the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP), and taught science at Palo Alto High School. Josh co-founded LightUp to bring the fun and interactivity of mobile games to educational toys in the real world. He met his co-founder, Tarun Pondicherry, at the Transformative Learning Technologies Lab at Stanford.

LightUp’s debut product combines modular magnetic blocks with an augmented reality app to teach kids how to control their world with circuits and code. Kids can visually program their projects and get personalized real-time guidance, all from the LightUp Learning app. Their Kickstarter launch raised over $120,000 from more than 1000 backers, 240% of their goal.
