David Grandison Jr. is an Executive Producer at BrainPOP, an award winning educational animation and game development studio. In this role, he has worked to standardize production processes and communication between studios in the UK, Mexico, France, China and Israel. Additional recent accomplishments include piloting the Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (LRMI) microdata taxonomies and implementation of strategic initiatives to improve discovery of BrainPOP’s content through the use of LRMI microdata taxonomies, alignment to CCSS and SEO.
Prior to joining BrainPOP, David, started his career teaching in an underserved urban school with Teach For America. He went on to co-found this district’s first “School of Choice” and focused the curriculum on tech enabled, project-based learning.
David holds a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University, Teachers College. Over the past 15 years he developed a varied background in leading production teams. Prior roles include: Instructional Designer for BMW; Senior Producer for the Sundance Channel, where he developed the first Google map-based social network; and Senior Producer for the Scholastic Teacher Channel, where he was awarded a Webby for his work redesigning the Teacher community website. His production experience and consulting has spanned the development of educational apps, games, and cutting-edge web development integrating video and social media.
