Michael_Cohen-200x200Developmental psychologist and clinician with 30 years experience in applied research and evaluation. Michael has served as the Principal Investigator on three Ready-To-Learn cooperative agreements totaling over $100 Million with the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Innovation and Improvement. Michael brings extensive experience in crafting and evaluating corporate messaging for the private sector.

Before founding MCG in 2002, Michael spent six years running a division of Robinson Lerer Sawyer Miller, a full service advertising and strategic consulting firm, specializing in issues, advocacy, and public affairs advertising, as well as corporate image/reputation advertising. Specifically, Michael has worked on assessments of the effectiveness of communications and promotional campaigns for the College Board, BP, The Getty Museum, PBS and The US Department of Health and Human Services.

In the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Michael was Senior Consultant to the NYC Board of Education responsible for the crisis response and Mayor Giuliani’s Senior Communication Consultant for Mental Health Response. Michael was PI of the large-scale, 8,000 children, FEMA funded study ‘The Mental Health Effects of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks on New York City’s Public School Children. Following this ground-breaking needs assessment, Michael created and led the NYC city-wide screening process to identify individuals in need of therapeutic intervention and services and began the process of assessing the effectiveness of the overall program.
